Afternoon Tea at the Ham Yard Hotel

What better way to celebrate an impending wedding then drink tea and eat cakes, with the Mother of the Bride and the Maid of Honour.
I love taking afternoon tea and finding new fabulous places to experience it at, and London is spoilt for choice with historical homes and hotels and with competitive prices.

On first impression the Ham Yard is bright, light and full of colour. Kit Kemp, co-owner and Design Director for Firmdale Hotels, has created exciting and unique interiors. Every detail down to the Kit Kemp designed Wedgewood china makes for a special and unique experience.

We opted for the set Afternoon Tea menu of £21 per head (menus are changed on a weekly basis).
We were sat in the Oscar Restaurant, an elegant and spacious room, which whilst busy had just the right level of noise for atmosphere but not too much interfere to with our own excited conversations.

The cakes and sandwiches were divine and incredibly filling. We couldn't finish everything so you certainly get your moneys worth.
The staff were polite and knowledgeable and were attentive enough to make it feel like a special occasion but without interrupting the flow of our conversation. Without asking they topped up our tea pots with hot water, something I have only experienced in American dinners, but which was a nice extra.
If you have a chance to, do have a wonder through the guest lounges and conservatory which have beautiful wall paper, furniture and textiles.
I would recommend booking in advance as the weekend is particularly popular. My favourite website for latest deals and the easiest for making reservations is bookatable.com
